Conducting 101 @ Sounds Great

This biennial conference has been held since 2003 and is a wonderful opportunity for those involved in music education to come together to meet, socialise, learn, network and share their ideas with other music education professionals across all sectors. This important professional learning opportunity is coordinated by aMuse and brings local and international presenters and workshop leaders together to share their knowledge and examples of best practice in Music Education.

Conducting 101

Do you yearn for more productive rehearsals with your choral and instrumental ensembles? Do you wish your group would perform with better tone quality, precision and musicality?

You have the power to improve all aspects of your ensemble’s performance through your conducting gestures.

In this hands-on workshop learn strategies on how to clearly and effectively lead ensembles from the podium. Consolidate and troubleshoot basic conducting gestures that so often can lead to ensemble issues including preparatory gestures, releases and tempo changes. Discover how connecting your breath and your gestures will instantly improve the sound of your group and bring clarity to your conducting. The session will also address common conducting issues including the use of batons, conducting music with mixed metres and creating a rehearsal environment that encourages listening and creativity.

BYO baton if you use one! Suitable for beginning conductors and anyone wishing to brush up their skills.
